How Sporting Events Can Help Your Mental Health
In our day to day lives we all have to find ways to cope with stress. Whether that be with family, hobbies, etc; everyone needs a release. One way to keep you mentally healthy while simultaneously enjoying yourself is watching sports. The roar of the crowds, the intensity of the game, and the people you meet along the way can all ground you when life gets a little too hectic.
In our daily lives we have a schedule, and every week we have to go to work or school, cook and clean, wake up, go to bed, on repeat. But if you take the opportunity to surround yourself with passionate sports fans, all locked in watching high intensity battles between one team and another it takes you out of the daily ‘norm’ and allows you some excitement and camaraderie to enhance your life.
We live in a world of technology and that can add to our stress load, if there’s one thing that can keep you off your phone, it would be the live action of sports. You’ll never experience the roar of the crowd, the cheers from the players, the smell of the food, and the energy of the event the same way through a screen. Knowing you’re going to an event gives you something to look forward to while you stroll through your day-to-day life. Whatever draws you in whether that be cricket or basketball or curling, exploring different events to see what draws you in the most is a fun and exciting way to keep your mind off other stressors in your life. Going to a game allows you to step outside of your comfort zone and try something new. Even the act of getting out of the house and socializing helps incredibly with boosting your serotonin. Your health is important, every part of it, do yourself a favour and have a good time at a game. You may just find yourself a new hobby that can keep you in check and keep your thoughts and spirit as happy as you deserve.
